The Bible is full of benefits of living a righteous life; a righteous life is one that honors God and does what is right. Righteousness is something that we can have through Jesus Christ. In the basic sense it is being looked at as if we have not sinned. It is God looking at us and seeing the perfection of Jesus Christ instead of our sin. This is a gift given to us by faith. It is a life that comes with great benefits.
1.God withholds no good thing from the righteous
Psalms 84 : 11 For the LORD God is a sun and shield; the LORD bestows favor and honor; no good thing does he withhold from those whose walk is blameless.
Psalms 34 : 10 The lions may grow weak and hungry, but those who seek the LORD lack no good thing.
Proverbs 10 : 24 What the wicked dreads will overtake him; what the righteous desire will be granted.
Proverbs 11:23 The desire of the righteous is only good, But the expectation of the wicked is wrath.
Matthew 6 : 33 But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well.
Righteous life truly pays off . The Lord coaches a righteous person to navigate well in life and guides them in good paths. It is hard at times to consistently live a righteous life, but at the end of the day, it is worth it to do right and live right.
2.God’s blessing is on the righteous
Psalms 5 : 12 For surely, O LORD, you bless the righteous; you surround them with your favor as with a shield.
Proverbs 10:6-7 Blessings are on the head of the righteous, But violence covers the mouth of the wicked. The memory of the righteous is blessed, But the name of the wicked will rot.
Proverbs 10:28 The hope of the righteous will be gladness,But the expectation of the wicked will perish.
Proverbs 11: 21“Be sure of this: The wicked will not go unpunished, but those who are righteous will go free.”
There is also freedom. Freedom says, “sin you are not the boss anymore! I do not belong to you, I will not work for you, I will not listen to you.” The penalty that was due to you because of that sin is gone and you are able to walk and live in freedom that comes from a relationship with Jesus Christ.
Proverbs 11 : 28 Whoever trusts in his riches will fall, but the righteous will thrive like a green leaf.
Proverbs 13:21 Adversity pursues sinners, But the righteous will be rewarded with prosperity.
Isaiah 3 : 10 Tell the righteous it will be well with them, for they will enjoy the fruit of their deeds.
Some may depend on riches, abilities, and gifting to maneuver in life, but those who choose to live a righteous life, God protects them and delivers them from harm.
3.The righteous are not lift alone in times of troubles.
Psalms 34:17 The righteous cry and the Lord hears, And delivers them out of all their troubles.
Psalms 37:39 But the salvation of the righteous is from the Lord; He is their strength in time of trouble.
Psalms 55:22 Cast your burden upon the Lord, and He will sustain you; He will never allow the righteous to be shaken.
Proverbs 11: 5-6 The righteousness of the blameless will direct his way aright, But the wicked will fall by his own wickedness. The righteousness of the upright will deliver them, But the unfaithful will be caught by their lust.
Righteousness rescues us from sin– Sin has its grip on us before we are set free by Jesus Christ. That is a problem because of the way it directs our lives and because it ends in death, namely spiritual death. Without God rescuing, we will be overwhelmed by our sin and never find our way out. But, when God enters in and declares you righteous, your life is set on a new path. It is to a place where you recognize what matters and what doesn’t matter; placing energy in what will last.
Proverbs 11:8 The righteous is delivered from trouble, And it comes to the wicked instead.
There will be people who don’t like a righteous person and will try to destroy them by their slander or other methods. However, God stands for the righteous person. He gives them knowledge, wisdom, and understanding that will cause them to be delivered from the hands of evildoers and gossipers.
God gave a perfect strategy to Esther who was living right and desired to do what was right. She was even willing to perish in order to save her people. A righteous person is dangerous to the Kingdom of darkness because they are willing to do right no matter what comes their way. The Lord faithfully led Esther by wisdom and knowledge until He exposed Haman’s schemes. We serve the same God that Esther served, and He will do the same for us.
4.Righteous inherits from God
Psalms 37:29 The righteous will inherit the land, and dwell in it forever.
Proverbs 10:24 The fear of the wicked will come upon him, And the desire of the righteous will be granted.
Proverbs 10:30 The righteous will never be removed, But the wicked will not inhabit the earth.
5.A righteous man will not lack nothing God will see to that
Psalms 37:25 I have been young, and now I am old; Yet I have not seen the righteous forsaken,
Or his descendants begging bread.
Proverbs 10:3 The Lord will not allow the righteous to hunger, But He will thrust aside the craving of the wicked.
The wicked at times may get extra help to accomplish their evil. However, God not only delivers the righteous person, but he also delivers his descendants from a gang of wicked people.
This was clearly shown in the life of Joseph. When his own brothers out of jealousy ganged up against him, he continued to live righteously. While for many years it appeared that the brothers were successful, God was unfolding a beautiful plan for Joseph and his descendants. Additionally, Joseph’s life continues to inspire the people of God to stay true to Him and keep doing what is right.
As believers, it’s so important to think about what kind of inheritance we are leaving for the next generation. Many people, may focus on monetary inheritance, but leaving a legacy of righteous life is far more pricey and valuable for our descendants than any worldly treasure.
6.Righteous is fare better than all the money in the world
Proverbs 11:28 He who trusts in his riches will fall, But the righteous will flourish like the green leaf.
7.We may fall but because of Gods love through Jesus we get up and can go on again
Proverbs 24:16 For a righteous man falls seven times, and rises again, but the wicked stumble in time of calamity.
When one chooses to walk uprightly with God, he/she is stepping into paths that are pleasing to God. This allows the person to make progress in life as opposed to the wicked who choose their own way and eventually leads them to fall.
8. The lips of the righteous produces good.
Proverbs 10:20-21 The tongue of the righteous is choice silver; The heart of the wicked is worth little. The lips of the righteous feed many, But fools die for lack of wisdom.
Proverbs 10:31-32 The mouth of the righteous brings forth wisdom,But the perverse tongue will be cut out. The lips of the righteous know what is acceptable, But the mouth of the wicked what is perverse.
Proverbs 11:9 The hypocrite with his mouth destroys his neighbor, But through knowledge the righteous will be delivered.
It is very important what we say with our mouth. Proverbs 4 tells us that there is life and death in the tongue. As a righteous person we should be declaring that righteousness. As we speak God’s word in our lives we produce the fruit of righteousness which is God’s wisdom for our lives. His word is what delivers us when we speak it out of our mouths.
9.The righteous has eternal life
Proverbs 10:2 Treasures of wickedness profit nothing, but righteousness delivers from death.
Proverbs 10:11 The mouth of the righteous is a well of life,But violence covers the mouth of the wicked.
Proverbs 10:16 The labor of the righteous leads to life,The wages of the wicked to sin.
Proverbs 10:25 When the whirlwind passes by, the wicked is no more, But the righteous has an everlasting foundation.
Proverbs 11:4 Riches do not profit in the day of wrath, But righteousness delivers from death.
Proverbs 11:19 As righteousness leads to life, So he who pursues evil pursues it to his own death.
Proverbs 11:30 The fruit of the righteous is a tree of life,And he who wins souls is wise.
Matthew 25:46 And these will go away into eternal punishment, but the righteous into eternal life.”
A righteous person has learned to do right at all times regardless of who is watching; they are continually sowing seeds of life and goodness. As a result the fruit of their lives will surely be good.On the other hand, a wicked person can look the part but not do what’s right. The work of the wicked will eventually produce death because it has been founded on evil and deception.
10. Righteousness exalts a nation
Proverbs 11:10-11 When it goes well with the righteous, the city rejoices; And when the wicked perish, there is jubilation. By the blessing of the upright the city is exalted, But it is overthrown by the mouth of the wicked.
Proverbs 14:34 Righteousness exalts a nation: but sin is a reproach to any people.
We need to pray for righteous leaders in our nation, our state, our city, and in our churches. When the righteous are acting righteously, all will go well with us, and the area we live in.
These promises that God has given us, how do you apply them?
Isaiah 3:10 Say to the righteous, that it shall be well with him:…”
We as Christians stand on God’s Word and we believe God’s Word. Incorporate these promises into your prayer life. When you pray use these scriptures. This puts notice to the devil that he does not have any rights in your life. You are actually letting him know what God’s Word says in your life and that you will not accept what he is trying to put into your life. By doing this, you and God are going to work together to gain the victory over the devil and over troubles the devil is causing in your lives. Point out to the devil that God is not like him and he doesn’t lie like the devil does. We know that God will not and cannot lie, remember what it says in:
Numbers 23:19 “God is not a man, that He should lie, nor a son of man, that He should repent. Has He said, and will He not do it? Or has He spoken, and will He not make it good?
This is a scripture that is worth mentioning more than one time because sometimes the devil tries to convince us that God is capable of lying to us. When we use the word of God in our prayer time we point out what God can do and will do in our lives. And the great part about this is the devil hates it.
God has given us his word to empower us with the truth of the blessings that belong to us.
God has given to you righteousness and you can therefore live forever as a result of Jesus Christ. He has said, you are forgiven and are acceptable because of Jesus Christ. Jesus smoothed the relationship between you and God!
God is at work in you, right now. You see, this is not a guilt trip, the Gospel message was never about that. It is about the love that God has for you. This is such a love that He was willing to place your sin on Hie perfect Son so that you would be able to spend eternity with Him. This is a game changer. In a moment God did what we could never have done. God has declared you to be righteous, live like it is true.
